Skills

With my experience in the teaching profession, I have developed, and am known for my ability to communicate effectively with the public in a friendly, concise manner. My strengths include strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent work ethic, flexibility, and the ability to work well with co-workers.
I have been involved and dealt with people from all walks of life in my twenty four years as a public school teacher. I was also entrusted with teaching and evaluating student teachers.
I have been a small business owner with the Weekenders ladies' wear company, responsible for all aspects of the business and as a contract driver for Metroland News.
I have served on the board of directors of the Budgerigar and Foreign Bird Society and was Vice President, then President of the York Region Parrot Association for two years and was instrumental in it's inception and growth.
Since 1995 I have owned, operated and managed my own aviary and breeding facility working with a variety of parrots. My focus remains educational in regards to my aviary and I have spoken at local bird clubs, schools, and public forums as well as written articles and become a hookbill judge.
In high school, I served on the student council as secretary treasurer and was responsible for keeping their financial books current.
I also represented my high school on their chosen team for the televised competition "Reach for the Top".
