  • As a research assistant at C-SPAN I used Congressional Records and legislative records and video of congressional debates and committee hearing to help create a complete and up to date record for the C-SPAN Congressional Chronicle. I edited and catalog congressional summaries and abstracts. As a research I worked on an independent basis to compile data and catalog data on a variety of computer programs.
  • My C-SPAN experience has equipped me with various in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of federal and state laws. My education experience has not only made me familiar with numerous court and administrative rules and decisions.
  • My time working at C-SPAN gave me a great understanding of the legislative and executive process in the nation’s capital and this experience has taught me about interpretations, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures some of which pertained to a variety of different programs but also I have the ability to do research and make decisions and evaluations of difficult legal documents.

  • I have gained a knowledge of policies and procedures associated with cash processing and management operations in a office setting in which I gained the knowledge of interrelated steps, conditions, procedures, and processes required to assemble, review, and maintain simple accounting, budgets, and other fiscal transactions taken in an office setting. These transactions included but are not limited to large and small cash transactions. I had to create audits to show my completeness and accuracy in handling money over a certain shift. During my time working in an office I gained knowledge of accounting, budget, or other financial management techniques and regulations in order to maintain the fiscal discipline of the office, practices, procedures, and policies. I nightly reconciled cash to ensure an accurate night account. On top of this audit I also placed all deposits from myself into the office safe so that I could be picked up for deposit to the bank. As well I learned to operate and maintain office equipment including but not limited to a cash register, fax machine, industrial copier, cash safe, scanner, and a paper shredder.

  • Double major in Political Science and History with a double minor in Economics and Anthropology.
 
  • My previous campaign experience is limited to Indiana’s fourth Congressional district. I worked on the Congressional Campaign of candidate Nels Ackerson in 2008 and candidate David Sanders in 2006. As a campaigner for David Sanders I participated in talking to the citizens of district 4 both over the phone and in person. I worked as part of a phone tree trying to reach out and talk to citizens about the candidate and the issues he supported. I recorded their responses and reported to the lead campaign manager about what issues came up with the voters and what their concerns were. I went out on Election Day and went to a polling place for part of the day to talk to voters and inform them about David Sanders and his vision for the district.
  • In 2008 I worked on candidate Nels Ackerson campaign. At the time I was a student at Purdue University so much of my time was spent trying to motivate Purdue Students to get out and vote. I also worked on trying to get students to try to register to vote and then I walked them thought the process and turned in the voter registration forms to our headquarters. I canvassed specific precincts around campus to speak with citizens about citizen advocacy and trying to encourage people to vote, as well as talking to citizens about the issues of the day and what our candidate supports. I passed out literature to people and recorded notes from my canvassing which I would turn into the Campaign Operation Coordinator.
